The Erie Limited Then and Then

Here are a group of railroad-issued, herald-back  postcards circa 1930s of The Erie Limited, the Erie Railroad's crack train between Jersey City, NJ and Chicago. The first card in the series shows the Erie Limited under steam power and the second view is the reverse side of the card.  The second and third cards show the modern amenities to be enjoyed by passengers such as 'seats that rotate and recline'. The modern 1950s photochrome card was made from a photo of the train being pulled by a pair of new E8 diesel locomotives on the famous Starruca Viaduct in Lanesboro, PA.
