Sequoia National Park

Here's where it gets good. Sequoia National Park is awesome. The roads are like roller coasters and the sights are amazing. When we got to our campsite we found that there were bear lockers to keep all of our food. You weren't supposed to keep anything that might interest a bear in your car. After setting up the tent and stowing our food we explored Moro Rock. It's a 400 step climb to the top of this rock which gives you a panoramic view of the sierras.

When we got back our campsite we started dinner and then our bear encounter. I was roasting sausages when we I look up and about 50 feet in front of me is a huge black bear (who was actually brown coloured). We turned the car alarm on to scare him away and he slowly scurried back into the woods but it kept us on edge the rest of the night.

The next day we explored crescent meadow and hiked out to Tharp Log. As you can see Tharp turned a fallen sequoia tree into a small cottage and lived there during the summer from 1861 to 1890. I bet he had an awesome beard.
