Still some time for winter to set in

Winter in Pune is beautiful. But Puneites have to wait a little longer to enjoy the season of romance, as winter is still a long way away with the minimum temperatures in the city still hovering 5 degrees above normal.

Still some time for winter to set in"As per IMD's definition of seasons, January and February are the only winter months. The months of October, November and December are usually considered as the post-monsoon season," informed Medha Khole, India Meteorological Department (IMD) director for weather forecasting.

Khole also said the popular perception of winter among people is usually dry weather accompanied by a perceptible drop in minimum temperatures. The minimum temperature in Pune was around 21 degrees last week and with a drop in temperature by 5 degrees, it was obvious for people to feel the pinch in the air and believe that the winter has set it. But the fact is that there is still some time for winter blankets the city

"The normal minimum temperature in the month of November is 12 degrees, while in December it is usually around 10 degrees. Minimum temperature is measured shortly after the sun rises, and the maximum temperature gets measured at 2.30pm every single day," said Khole.
