Mr. Tufte Goes to Washington

Regular readers will recall that I think highly of Ed Tufte and his work on the presentation of quantitative information. Well, according to this report in The New York Times, he has been appointed an adviser to the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, which is the federal government outfit charged with keeping track of where the economic stimulus money has gone. This, it seems is a good thing. (Thanks to my friend Linda Lindenfelser for bringing The Times piece to my attention.)

Update: Here is a post-appointment interview with Tufte from npr.
